Start here
Set up two PCs without touching the router.
Plan for about ten minutes. Keep both computers nearby for the first setup and make sure you know the Windows password for each PC you want to control.
Computer 1
Prepare the PC you want to reach
- 1
Extract the ZIP
Right-click the downloaded ZIP, choose Extract All, then open the extracted folder. Do not run setup from inside the ZIP preview.
- 2
Open START HERE
Double-click START HERE - Install Two-PC Remote.cmd. Windows may show “Unknown publisher” because this independent build is not code-signed. Check that the filename came from this site, then continue.
- 3
Let setup prepare this PC
Choose to allow this computer to be controlled. Approve the Windows administrator prompt. The helper checks the Windows edition, enables native Remote Desktop, and configures the local Windows firewall rule.
- 4
Sign in to Tailscale
If Tailscale is missing, START HERE downloads its current official installer directly from Tailscale and verifies its digital signature. A browser page then asks you to sign in.
- 5
Leave the app open
Two-PC Remote will say it is waiting for your second computer. It checks again automatically.
Computer 2
Use the same kit on the PC in front of you
- 1
Copy the same ZIP to the second PC
Use a USB drive, cloud storage, email, or download it again from this page. Extract it and open START HERE.
- 2
Choose how this PC will be used
When START HERE asks, press Enter if you want control in both directions. Type N if this PC only needs to connect to the other one.
- 3
Use the same Tailscale sign-in
For one person’s two computers, sign in with the same Tailscale identity. The app discovers the other Windows PC—there is no address to type.
- 4
Click Connect
When the card says Ready, click Connect. Windows Remote Desktop asks for the other computer’s Windows account password the first time. It may also show a one-time identity confirmation for the private Tailscale address; check that the computer name is the one you chose before continuing.
After setup
From then on, it is one click.
Open the Two-PC Remote shortcut, wait for Ready, and click Connect. Tailscale runs quietly in the background; you do not need to open it manually. Microphone input, remote sound, and clipboard sharing are requested automatically.
