Privacy & security
A small launcher, not another remote-access cloud.
This page explains what the downloadable starter does and where your information goes.
This website
The website serves the download and documentation. Your desktop session does not pass through this website. The launcher does not send computer names, screen contents, microphone audio, clipboard contents, or Windows credentials to this site.
Your private network
Tailscale creates an encrypted private network between the computers in your own Tailscale account. During setup, you sign in directly through Tailscale. The starter does not contain a shared authentication key and does not add your PC to the author’s network.
Your remote session
Microsoft Remote Desktop carries screen, keyboard, mouse, audio, microphone, and clipboard data between your computers over the private Tailscale connection. The Windows sign-in interface and Windows Credential Manager handle the remote account password. Two-PC Remote does not read or store that password.
Local settings
The launcher stores only the selected computer identity and ordinary display preferences under your Windows user profile. Generated Remote Desktop profile files contain connection preferences but no password. The included uninstaller removes the launcher and shortcuts, explains any app-only records being preserved, and offers an explicit local-data cleanup. It intentionally leaves Tailscale installed so other devices and software are not disrupted.
What setup changes
Only when you explicitly allow access to a PC, the elevated helper can enable Microsoft Remote Desktop, create a custom inbound firewall rule restricted to Tailscale addresses, allow audio-recording redirection, and enable Tailscale unattended mode. It never opens your router or creates a public Remote Desktop port.
Third-party services
Tailscale and Microsoft Windows are third-party products with their own terms and privacy practices. Two-PC Remote is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Tailscale Inc. or Microsoft Corporation.
